GRAUPNER at the Joe Nall Fly-In

In May a team of Graupner display pilots travelled to Woodruff, South Carolina, USA, to demonstrate some of the company’s new models. The destination was the famed Triple Tree Aerodrome, the event the 26th Joe Nall Fly-In. The team had brought many models with them, including the FOX, Cirrus, E-TAXI 2400, KWIK-FLY and EXTRA 300 SHP Indoor.

The Joe Nall Fly-In is probably the largest and most famous model flying event in the USA, catering for 650 pilots and 1000 models. Most of the aircraft flown are power aerobatic types and jets with wingspans of two metres and over. The modellers and spectators at the event were more than a little surprised when Graupner brought a glider and tug to the start-line, but the Elektro-Taxi 2400 briskly towed the aerobatic FOX to height, and the subsequent aerobatic display was very exciting; the applause for a successful flight was well-earned and generous.

Many of the pilots at the start-line were using 2.4 GHz equipment. This included the Graupner team with their IFS radio control systems, which were given additional support by the US importer Hobby Lobby. Extreme Power Systems (XPS) - the US importer of Graupner G-Booster turbines - also demonstrated the capabilities of IFS technology by flying its F-16 jet.

A great meeting and a successful presentation of Graupner products in the American marketplace. See you again in 2009.
